Teenagers

 

Having taught for 17 years and as a parent, I believe that our teenagers today face significant pressure to achieve well in school, manage the school/home life balance and cope with exam stress and anxiety. Alongside this, they have to deal with peer group pressure and learn to build and maintain adult relationships. Confidence, self-belief and overall emotional resilience are essential in coping with these pressures.

As parents, we want our children to not only do well academically but to flourish as adults; to recognise their wonderful skills and resources, to persevere when things get tough, to communicate with adults and their peers effectively and to be resilient when things don’t go to plan.

 I believe that what they will learn in coaching will have a positive impact on their life now and in the future. Coaching is very positive and solution-focused. It is a confidential, non-judgemental space where they can benefit from:

  • Recognising their skills and strengths
  • Changing how they react to events
  • Recognising self-limiting beliefs and how to overcome them
  • Increasing confidence
  • Communicating more effectively with adults and peers
  • Improving their academic and organizational skills
  • Finding a balance between schoolwork and home life
  • Using techniques to help alleviate anxiety and exam stress

A specially designed package for exam season. This 4 session package will include the following:

  • Goal setting
  • Time-tabling your studying
  • Relaxation techniques/self-care (relaxation visualisations, breathing techniques for getting to sleep and/or when panic or overwhelm set in)
  • Effects of stress on the body
  • Coping strategies for dealing with stress during exams
  • Discovering how your Dominant Drivers (what motivates us) can affect the way you study/how you deal with challenges in your studying/your reaction to pressure
  • Gremlins (our critical inner voice) and how we can control them to increase our confidence and self-belief
  • Thinking Errors we make and how they can impact our confidence/our beliefs during revision time
  • Dealing with anxious thoughts and feelings and how we can help control them
  • How we can control feeling overwhelmed by taking specific action
  • Being able to see things from a different perspective/keeping positive
